【White Lotus King Dharmalakṣaṇa Brief Introduction】

White Lotus King has the appearance of a 16 year old youth; is white, pure, stately, and dignified. His right hand forms the Dharma-teaching Mudra while his left hand holds a white lotus with the Lotus-holding Mudra. Sitting upon a throne, he wears a Vairocana Buddha crown, is adorned with all kinds of pearled jewels and is draped in a delicate white celestial net garment.

White Lotus King was the second king of the Shambhala Pure Land, an extremely secret pure land. Manjushri Bodhisattva was the first king and the father of White Lotus King. White Lotus King wrote the Immaculate Light Treatise and is one and the same as White Padmakumara.

Living Buddha Lian-sheng revealed that Shambhala Pure Land was located in Mount Dangxiang of Western Xia Empire. Within this very secret mountain was a huge, lotus-shaped cavern symbolizing a lotus kingdom. Shambhala was a lotus kingdom divided into eight directions, that is, it had east, south, north, west, southeastern, northeastern….

In total there are eight directions. In the center there was a lotus. Within this lotus there was a lotus palace. White Lotus King was the second king of the Shambhala Pure Land. Everyone in Shambhala was a practitioner.

In the Mahabharata, India’s most ancient sutra, it is stated that: Dharma King Yuexian of the Shambhala Kingdom received oral transmission of the Kalachakra Tantra from an emanation of Shakyamuni in Auspicious Rice Gathering Stupa. This lineage of the Kalachakra Tantra was then passed down through 25 generations.

The first king of Shambhala was an emanation of Manjushri called ”Title King.” The second king of Shambhala was ”White Lotus King.”
The most well-known works of the White Lotus King are the Immaculate Light Treatise (Kalachakra Tantra essence) and the Auspicious Supreme Vow.
White Lotus King was the most famous king of the Shambhala Kingdom. His fame radiated throughout the ten directions. Since this time, the Kalachakra teaching has never departed from the Immaculate Light Treatise.

One who practices this dharma will have great attainment :

Will become Padmakumara.
Will be reborn in a Pure Land.
One’s parents and relatives of previous lifetimes will attain liberation and be reborn in the buddha land.
Will attain the Wisdom of the Tathagata.
Matters of no concern to one do not matter to one; when matters do concern one, one becomes afflicted. As a bodhisattva, one cannot be like this. Although some incident may have nothing to do with one, one should still lend a helping hand if someone is in trouble or difficulty. A true bodhisattva is like this. Buddhas and bodhisattvas are alike in this way. The wisdom of the tathagata is all the same.
If reborn in the human world, one will be a Great Prajna Dharma King.
One who cultivates the White Lotus King Practice and is reborn in the human world will be a Great Prajna Dharma King, that is, a dharma king of exceeding wisdom.
Exercise supernatural power naturally and able to subjugate four maras.
Everyone who studies Buddhist teachings will come to possess great wisdom and outstanding goodness. One will also have spontaneous supernatural power and be capable of subjugating the four maras and all demonic obstacles. ”Demonic obstacles” are actually afflictions in one’s own mind. In addition, there are obstacles of knowledge. One’s knowledge becomes an obstacle to one’s cultivation practice. Truthfully speaking, the ”devil” is in one’s mind. One will, of course, attain self-mastery of supernatural power as long as one is able to subjugate one’s own mind, cultivate to open one’s channels, cause the drops to descend and induce the inner fire to rise.
Immaculate Light and Self Mastery
What is immaculate? White Lotus King wrote the Immaculate Light Treatise. Let me tell you, the great time wheel is always turning. The past is already past and won’t ever return. It’s completely gone. The present will become past; the future will become present; and this present will become past again.

The dharma teaching I’m giving at this moment will become past history tomorrow, vanished. It’s impossible that the same people will gather at the same time to listen to the teachings of Living Buddha Lian-sheng Sheng-yen Lu. This moment will become the past. The future will become the present and the present will become the past. This is therefore ”immaculate.” Ultimately then, what does exists? Only the buddha-nature, which is light, truly exists. When through cultivation we become Buddha, then that exists forever. The only true existence is the existence of the buddha-nature. The entire material realm of existence will absolutely vanish.
